Postdoctoral Research Position in Barrier Island Morphodynamics

The Boston College Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in barrier island morphodynamics, supervised by Prof. Kat Wilson. We seek an individual with a recent PhD and a strong background in quantitative geomorphology, sediment transport, coastal processes, and geospatial analysis. Experience with lidar time series and nearshore oceanographic data is desirable.

The postdoctoral researcher will investigate decadal-scale barrier island evolution and resilience in natural and anthropogenically-modified systems. They will join a collaborative team studying landscape evolution and sedimentary processes in coastal and fluvial systems. The role also includes dedicating approximately 15% of time to mentoring lab group students and supporting the principal investigators in managing the Coastal Sedimentology Laboratory.

The position is funded for one year, with a likely option to extend depending on external funding. Desired start date between Sept 1, 2025 and January 1, 2026.
